Update

Thursday will bring some clouds and will be the warmest day of the week with a high temperature in the 30s. The next storm is approaching and the wind direction ahead of this storm will be from the south, which is bringing in the warmer air.

On Thursday night, we might see a few showers but most likely snow accumulations will be little to nothing.

On Friday, we’ll have the best chance for steady snow between the morning and afternoon. Sometime around mid-to-late morning, an intense band of snow will move through, dropping visibility and kicking up strong winds. Then on Friday midday and afternoon, the winds will continue to be strong with gusts of 40-60mph.

The best time to enjoy the new snow should be Friday midday through the afternoon, however, it will be stormy/windy during this time and some lifts may close due to the wind. If this happens and some snow is not skied on Friday midday and afternoon, then Saturday morning will offer fresh snow and soft turns. Also, northwest flow on Friday evening could keep snow showers going with additional accumulations after lifts close, which is another factor that points to Saturday morning possibility offering the best powder.

For storm total snowfall, I’ll stick with 4-8 inches. The forecast models are all over the place with some trending down and some holding steady or trending up a bit. In this situation, it’s often best to stay the course with the forecast. Friday's system isn’t a massive storm but should create fun turns on Friday through the day and on Saturday morning.

Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, Saturday, Sunday, and Monday will be dry with temperatures in the 20s to low 30s.

Our next chance for snow continues to center around Wednesday and Thursday, January 22-23rd. This looks like a weak-to-moderate strength storm with middle-of-the-road snow totals (not too low, not too high).

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
