Update

Going into this Wednesday and Thursday storm, I kept my expectations low because, despite reasonably strong energy in the atmosphere which helps to create snow, we had limited moisture.

These low expectations turned out to be well placed as we saw one inch of snow on Wednesday and an additional inch on Wednesday night.

On Thursday, our reasonably strong storm that lacks moisture will continue to bring snow showers and we could see an additional few inches of accumulation throughout the day.

The storm should end by Thursday night.

Friday should be a beautiful day with mostly sunny skies all day and temperatures warming into the upper 20s to low 30s.

The next storm could bring a burst of light snow from Friday night into Saturday morning with a dusting to an inch of accumulation. This will not be a significant storm because it will track far to our north.

The next chance for significant snow still looks like it’ll start on Saturday night or Sunday and continue through Monday and potentially Tuesday. I like our chances for 6-12+ inches of snow because we’ll see a great combination of plenty of moisture, storm energy moving through, and the jet stream will be overhead, which often leads to narrow streaks of intense snow and higher-than-expected totals.

The only part of the storm that concerns me is that all model haves a slightly different take on the details, so I continue to have low confidence about which days will offer the best powder. Right now, I’d hedge toward snow during the day on Sunday and Sunday night with the best powder on Monday.

Following the Sunday-to-Tuesday storm, we might see quiet weather through the rest of next week. There is a chance, though, that some energy and moisture lingers around northern Colorado and that we’ll continue to see flakes. With the snowfall streak that we're on, I wouldn't be surprised if the atmosphere finds a way to keep the flakes flying.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
