Copper Mountain Daily Snow

Update
Following Saturday’s dry and partly sunny weather, snow began to fall on Saturday late afternoon and the snow stake shows that 4 inches accumulated by Sunday morning at 500am.
On Sunday, the storm will bring snow throughout the day with 2-5+ inches of additional accumulation. There will be a LOT of moisture in the air on Sunday, and this can lead to higher-than-expect snow totals, which is something to watch for on the snow stake camera. Also, Sunday will bring warming temperatures and increasing wind speeds, both of which can lead to denser, thicker snow.
On Sunday night, we’ll likely see 2-5+ inches of snow. A narrow band of intense snow, created by the jet stream way up around 30,000 feet, will position itself near or just north of the mountain. These narrow bands of snow are hard to predict and can lead to a LOT of snow in a short amount of time, so I’ll be watching the snow stake camera to see if this band lands over the mountain (which would lead to more than 2-5 inches of snow) or stays just north of the mountain.
Monday morning should offer fun powder thanks to the snow from Sunday night. The snow quality will be good since temperatures will cool on Sunday night and we’ll have fluffy snow on top of Sunday’s denser snow.
The main storm will move away by Monday mid-morning, though we could still see some snow showers on Monday afternoon, Monday night, and Tuesday with additional accumulations and soft snow sticking around.
From Wednesday through Saturday we will see dry weather.
Then it’s likely that snow will return starting around Sunday, February 23rd with chances for snow continuing through about Thursday, February 27th.
Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
