On Friday night into Saturday morning, we were expecting 2-6 inches of accumulation. In reality, we saw zero accumulation (well, a few flakes fell, so maybe we can call it a dusting). This complete forecast bust is pretty rare. Yes, the forecast doesn’t always match reality, but it is not often that a forecast for at least some snow results in just about no snow. 

In this case, the band of snow that we expected to move across on Friday night stalled to our west and weakened. This makes sense in hindsight as the wind direction was unfavorable, from the southwest and south, but with all models showing at least some snow from this band, I am shocked that nothing happened.

For the rest of Saturday, I have low confidence in the snow accumulation forecast but pretty high confidence that we will see some snow fall. Most models show that snow showers will hang around throughout the day with a somewhat favorable wind from the west and west-northwest, and to the northwest where the storm is coming from, it has a history of producing significant accumulations, so let’s hope that this means that we’ll see at least a few inches of snow and conditions softening through the day.

Sunday will be dry and chilly with high temperatures in the teens.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be dry and warmer with high temperatures in the upper 20s to mid-30s.

On Wednesday night into Thursday morning, there is a very low chance that we’ll see a few flakes from a storm that will track well to the south.

Then, from Thursday through Sunday, March 4-7, the main weather story will be sunshine and warm temperatures with highs in the 30s and a feeling of spring skiing in the air.

Looking far ahead, our next meaningful chance for snow could be around March 15th, plus or minus a few days.
