Hoping for soft snow on Friday at Copper

Summary

Thursday will start dry, then we’ll see showers during the afternoon, more significant snow on Thursday night into Friday morning, and maybe softer and powdery conditions on Friday.

Short Term Forecast

Wednesday was mostly sunny dry with high temperatures in the upper 30s to mid-40s.

Thursday will start out similar to Wednesday with sunny skies and dry conditions.

On Thursday midday and afternoon, showers will begin to form with scattered accumulations.

On Thursday night and Friday morning, the storm will cross our mountains and strengthen over eastern Colorado, and this is a recipe for the potential for more significant snow accumulations. I expect 3-6 inches by Friday mid-morning and we could see some snow continue throughout the day on Friday.

Extended Forecast

On Saturday and Sunday, there could be pop-up showers both days, though right now, it appears that any steadier and significant snowfall should stay south of the mountain.

Looking ahead to next week, there is a medium-to-high chance for significant snow Monday night into Tuesday, and there could be a second storm later in the week, around Thursday, April 22.
