Opening day, and a likely storm from Saturday to Monday

Summary

Monday through Wednesday will be dry, we'll see some snow showers on Thursday, and then there should be a two-part storm from Saturday through Monday

Update

Welcome to opening day!

Terrain is limited, but the mountain is open and turns will be made, and that's a good thing.

On Monday morning, temperatures are warm, but readings at the base of the mountain are cold enough for snowmaking, which we can see in the image below.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will bring more of the same dry and warm weather with high temperatures in the 40s.

Thursday will bring a change in the weather as a weak storm crosses Colorado in advance of a stronger storm that will arrive this weekend. I expect gusty winds and some snowflakes in the air. If we're lucky, we might see some snow accumulation during the day.

Friday will swing back to dry weather with a cooler high temperature in the 30s.

From Saturday through Monday, a two-storm storm will move through Colorado. The first part on Saturday could bring some snow though temperatures will be warm (20s and 30s). The second part on Sunday into Monday could bring higher snow totals with colder temperatures (teens and 20s). The storm is still 5-7 days away, so forecast confidence is low, and snow totals could be anything from a few inches to double digits. If the storm comes in on the higher end, there could be some powder on Monday, and it might help mountain operations crews to open (some) more terrain early next week.

In the longer range, another storm is possible around Thanksgiving (plus or minus a day), though at this point, the odds are higher for a push of colder air and lower for significant snowfall.
