Some snow Thursday, more snow Sunday and Monday

Summary

Dry and warmer weather will continue through Wednesday, then Thursday will bring some flakes with low-end snow accumulations, followed by another storm on Sunday and Monday.

Update

On Tuesday morning, temperatures at the base are about 10-15°F colder than temperatures at the mid and upper mountain, and we can see that these colder temperatures are allowing crews to make snow near the base (the snowmaking is the faint light in the middle of the image).

On Tuesday and Wednesday, we will see continued dry weather with warm high temperatures that will rise into the 40s.

Thursday and Thursday night now look more interesting. A LOT of moisture will push across Colorado, and it appears that there will be enough storm energy to convert some of this moisture into snow. I expect some snow to fall both during the day on Thursday and linger into Thursday night. The snow level will be rather high, but still near or below the base elevation. Due to the warm temperatures, I'll keep my snow expectation on the low end, maybe 1-3 inches, though with a lot of moisture in the air, it's possible that we could exceed these numbers.

Friday and Saturday will swing back to dry weather with a cooler high temperature in the 30s. It's still possible that we could see some snow on Saturday, but the odds of this are now very low, as the storm on Saturday should pass well to our south.

The next storm will be from Sunday through Monday and this will be our best chance for the most snow during the next 10 days. There is still a lot of uncertainty about the track of this storm, but with that said, I'll throw out an initial estimate of 3-6 inches of snow with temperatures in the 20s on both Sunday and Monday. This is likely not going to be the significant storm that we need to open a lot more terrain, but at least it'll be something.

In the longer range, Tuesday, November 21 to Thursday, November 23 will be dry and warm with highs in the 30s to low 40s, and then the next chance for a storm will likely arrive sometime between Friday, November 24, and Sunday, November 26.
