Update

Sunday is a powder day at Copper with 5 inches of snow falling on Saturday night. Get out and enjoy the new snow!

We should see a break in the snow on Sunday with some sunshine, especially during the morning and midday hours, and then snow will return on Sunday night and could continue through Wednesday morning.

On Sunday night and Monday, there will be narrow, intense bands of snow over northern Colorado, so we’ll need some luck for these bands to hit Copper as the wind direction during this time, from the west-southwest, is not ideal. But then the wind should switch to blow from the west and northwest on Tuesday into Wednesday, and this is more favorable for Copper.

I think the best powder potential will be Monday afternoon, Tuesday, and perhaps Wednesday morning if additional snow falls on Tuesday night. Total accumulations should be in the 7-14 inch range.

Clouds and light snow showers could linger on Wednesday and Thursday, then we should see mostly dry weather from Friday January 27 to Friday February 3, with the next storm arriving within a few days of February 5th.
