Copper Mountain Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Copper Mountain Daily Snow

Update

It's Thursday and I come bearing some good news.

Thanks to colder temperatures, snowmaking is now happening almost around the clock (with a brief break in the afternoon during the warmest part of the day). Thanks to this additional snowmaking, the American Flyer lift is now open.

Another piece of good news is that following the dry weather on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, we will see a storm on Sunday and Monday. Previous forecasts showed that this storm would stay to the south of Colorado, but the latest forecasts bring the storm more directly across Colorado, which is good news. I have reasonable confidence that Copper will get 4-8 inches, with light snow on Sunday and then more intense snow late Sunday night and Monday as a cold front rolls through.

Monday should be a powder day, so if you have been itching to ski fresh snow, Monday looks like the day that you should delay other responsibilities until later in the day.

After Monday, we will move into a cold and dry weather pattern for at least one week. This is good for snowmaking but of course we could use more natural snow too. During this time, a weak system or two could drop a few flakes, but I don't see any significant storms through at least December 10-12. After that, we'll see.

Stay tuned for daily updates, and thanks for reading!
