August Snow Photo Tour!

Summary

Considering the oppressive heat much of central and southern Europe experienced in the second half of August, the snow of the last two days was a physical and emotional relief. Keep reading for snowy shots from some of your favorite resorts across the Alps. I will be posting a seasonal outlook in the next week or so as well.

Short Term Forecast

Let's start the photo tour in France, where significant snow fell at upper elevations, with solid amounts down low.

Switzerland did well with this August winter blast as well.

And finally, Italy got in on the action.

Along with the heavy snow up high, very heavy rainfall was occurring down low. This lead to some intense river flows, especially in Austria.

Some more light to moderate snow is possible today, especially at upper elevations in Switzerland, where another 5 - 10 cms is possible.

Temperatures should stay cool through Thursday before a warming trend starts Friday and builds through the weekend.

Be on the lookout for my European Winter Forecast Preview, which will be posted within the next week or so.

Thanks for reading!
