Europe Daily Snow

Snow Continues Through Early Next Week
Summary
Our latest storm delivered heavy snow to the southern French Alps yesterday, with the focus shifted to the eastern Italian southern Austrian Alps. Light to moderate snow will spread north into the Swiss and Austrian Alps, and back into the French Alps once again. Light snow will linger through Monday, and perhaps through Tuesday in the western Alps. A break in the action is expected thereafter
Short Term Forecast
This storm has overperformed so far, with 25 - 40 cms in the Isere region of the southern French Alps. The heaviest snow has shifted to the eastern Italian and southern Austrian Alps through Saturday afternoon. Light to moderate snow will then continue across most of the Alps and Pyrenees through Monday, with some lingering showers through Tuesday in the western Alps as well. Below is the snowfall expected for the remainder of the storm.
Once this long-duration storm wraps up, ridging starts to build in off the coasts of Scandinavia and the British Isles. However, remnants from our long-duration storm will strengthen and bring more snow to the Pyrenees from Wednesday through Friday. The eastern part of the range could see significant snow.
Extended Forecast
The aforementioned ridge preventing storms from impacting the Alps later next week won't stick around too long. A strong and deep area of low pressure will develop over Scandinavia, and usher in the coldest airmass of the season. This airmass will slowly sag southward and likely reach the Alps around mid-month, with the possibility of more snow at that time.
