Snow Forecast

Clouds increased through Monday evening and delivered anywhere from a dusting to up to 2 inches at Loveland for Tuesday morning's report. We'll now continue to receive off-and-on snow showers through midday Tuesday ahead of heavier snow from Tuesday afternoon through early Wednesday morning.

Spring storms are always tricky as afternoon convection (think summer afternoon thunderstorms) can quickly lay down a few inches in 30-60 minutes. I'll go with 2-4 inches come Wednesday morning. Keep an eye on the snow stake cams for your area of choice and plan to ski Wednesday morning if you're looking for soft turns.

The rest of Wednesday should then feature a break in the action, with maybe a few scattered snow showers and temps climbing into the 30s.

Travel Forecast

Wet, slushy, and snowy road surfaces will continue, off-and-on, through Saturday.

The strong April sun will help to clear most road surfaces during the daylight hours but very heavy snow showers can still quickly create slick and snowy road surfaces.

Expect slower travel speeds and road closures due to accidents at times from Tuesday afternoon through Saturday morning, especially near the Eisenhower Tunnel and over Vail Pass.

Give yourself plenty of travel time and stay tuned to CDOT for the latest updates.

Extended Forecast

As mentioned in the summary, we'll be watching for a chance at steady snow each night this week. Wednesday night into Thursday, Thursday night into Friday, and again Friday night into Saturday. Friday and Saturday will be the days to watch for the deepest totals as temps get colder to help with snow production.

Sunday could then be a mostly dry and sunny day ahead of additional chances for snow early next week.

Thanks for reading! Next update on Wednesday (4/14).
