Showers Possible Tuesday - Wednesday...
Summary
The dry pattern continues through Monday night. We could see rain & snow showers Tuesday & Wednesday. Then a dry pattern builds in again Thursday into next week.
Update
Monday:
The dry pattern continues through Monday night with no weather-related travel issues expected.
Tuesday - Wednesday Showers:
A low-pressure system sitting over the Great Basin Tuesday & Wednesday will bring the chance for late-morning - evening showers both days. Snow levels should mostly be above 7000 ft which would mean just rain showers over the passes. Heavier showers could drag snow levels lower at times but only wet roads expected during the day.
We will have to keep an eye on the evening hours as the sun goes down, or if we see and very heavy bands of snow showers move over the passes. That could bring a slushy accumulation on the roads. If you plan to travel through the Sierra Tuesday & Wednesday keep an eye out for possible bands of heavier showers moving through during the afternoon/evening that could bring slush to the very top of the passes.
Long-Range:
High pressure builds in again Thursday through next week, with a dry pattern expected through the long range.
More precipitation is possible later in the month and May so stay tuned just in case we see any late-season storms.
