Dry thru Sunday, Snow Showers Monday...

Summary

A few snow showers are possible early Saturday, then dry through Sunday night. The next weak system moves through with some snow Monday. Drier for Tuesday into Wednesday. A stronger storm is possible Thursday into Friday with another possible Saturday the 3rd.

Update

Dry Pattern:

A few snow showers are possible with a weak and fast-moving front early Saturday with only a dusting of snow expected at best that should melt on the roads. Then dry through Sunday night.

Monday Snow Showers:

We will undergo a pattern change starting Monday that could last into the beginning of December. It will open the door to storms, but the track of each down the coast from the north will vary and small shifts in the track could change the snowfall forecasts dramatically from none up to significant snowfall.

The first system drops through the region Monday. Snow showers are possible by midday Monday. Snow levels likely drop to 6000 ft. at the start which is below pass levels. Then below 4000 ft. by the end of Monday evening.

The snow showers look to be pretty light. We could see a dusting up to 2 inches of snow over the passes by the end of the day on Monday. That could bring chain controls over the passes between Monday morning through the evening if we see heavier showers. Then clearing out Monday night.

Tuesday - Wednesday:

Tuesday and Wednesday look to be dry with no weather-related travel issues currently expected.

Long-Range:

The latest forecast model runs show the chance for another storm Thursday into next Friday the 2nd, and another possibly Saturday the 3rd. Each system's track will determine the storm's impact.

We will update the timing and potential impacts as we get closer. If you plan to travel through the northern Sierra through December 3rd be prepared for potential slow travel and winter driving conditions.
