Snow Possible Friday Night - Saturday...

Summary

Dry weather is expected through Friday morning. By Friday afternoon into Saturday, we could see some snow showers from a weak system moving through. We could see another break in the storms Sunday into next Monday the 13th. Then more weak/moderate systems are possible by the 14th through the 3rd week of February.

Update

Dry thru Friday Morning:

We are expecting a driy pattern through at least Friday morning. No weather-related travel impacts are expected for the rest of the week. We'll let you know if that changes.

Friday Afternoon/Evening - Saturday System:

The latest forecast model runs show a storm moving later Friday into Saturday bringing some light snow to the northern Sierra. Snow showers could move in between 4-10 PM Friday and last into Saturday evening before clearing out by Sunday morning.

Snow levels look to drop below 4000 ft. Friday night and could hover around 4000 ft. through Saturday. We could see chain controls set up Friday evening and continue into Saturday from around Blue Canyon into Truckee. The snowy travel could continue into Saturday night before improving Sunday.

Carry chains and be prepared for possible winter driving conditions this weekend from Friday afternoon into Sunday morning.

Long-Range:

We could see another break from Sunday into next Monday the 13th. The next storm showing up on the long-range models is around Tuesday the 14th into Wednesday the 15th, with additional weak/moderate storms possible every few days or so through the 3rd week of February. We'll continue to watch the trends as we get closer.
