Wet storms continue to pound Idaho with snow

Summary

A cold front pushing through on Monday is bringing lots of snow to N. Idaho resorts, the West Central Mountains and Central Idaho resorts, and continues through Wednesday. An atmospheric river will dump up to two feet at Schweitzer Mountain through the next two days, with large amounts also forecast at Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass. Schweitzer could get almost 3 feet through Friday. More than a foot is expected at Brundage Mountain and Tamarack through that period, and Bogus could get close to a foot.

Short Term Forecast

The storm track hitting the Idaho Panhandle is very wet and could be a little on the warm side during the day, with highs forecast in the high country above freezing and lows just around 30. Weather experts are predicting snow levels at 4,000-4,500 on Tuesday. Bring the fat boards to float on top of deep powder.

Lesser amounts of snow are forecast at Brundage, Tamarack, Sun Valley and Bogus Basin, but still substantial amounts through Wednesday. The southern tier resorts such as Pomerelle and Pebble Creek are forecast to get less snow out of the storm systems, but the storm track is coming up from the Southwest, so they could still get hit with new snow.

Extended Forecast

In N. Idaho, the parade of storms continues through the week, with no break in the action, just a little less quantity expected later in the week.

In Central Idaho and the West Central Mountains, things should clear for Thursday, and then another storm system is forecast Thursday night and Friday.
