Mammoth Daily Snow

Heads up, there may be fresher snow! Read the latest Mammoth Daily Snow

A Weak Storm

A sunny and milder Saturday. Sunday we'll see some snow and by Monday the cold is here. Tuesday and Wednesday gets milder next week with plenty of sun. Going into the end of next week and the weekend we get a few more chances of seeing weak systems bringing very light snow.

Short Term Forecast

Sunny and cool weather is in store for Saturday January 28th. Winds will likely be picking up in the later afternoon up to 40 MPH but lift ops should be okay for the afternoon session. It will be the warmest day of the next several with highs in the low 30's and upper 20's.

Sunday & Monday Morning Snow

Our cold, but weak system is still on the way. The most impressive piece of this system will honestly be the cold. The amount of liquid it contains is meager at best. The models are showing under 0.25 inches of liquid this morning with only the Euro going a bit higher and closer to 0.35 inches.

I'm going to keep my forecast the same at 2 - 4 inches for Main Lodge and 3 - 6 inches on the summit. The cold air will be doing all the work for us in creating more snow from very little water.

Temps will be in the teens and single digits on both Sunday and Monday. Lows could be dropping into the negatives depending on where you are in town. The majority of the snow falls on Sunday with only remnant snow showers possible early Monday morning.

Winds will be gusty on Sunday with 40 - 50 MPH Southwest winds over the summit. By Monday the wind direction shits out of the Northeast and we could see 30 - 40 MPH gusts.

This will be a quick system with limited accumulations but at least something to freshen up the slopes.

Tuesday - Wednesday

We stay dry the last day of January and the 1st day of February next week. Temps will start moderating back into the high 20's and low 30's and the sun will be out with light winds. Should be great days to get out on the mtn and enjoy the great conditions.

Extended Forecast

I've mentioned how I've thought that all of next week will likely be either completely dry or mostly dry. That's generally still the case, but the models continue to tease us with another very weak system on Friday, February 3rd.

The best part about the pattern is that we continue to stay colder with no major warmups, which will keep our snowpack going better for longer.

I'm still confident this will not be anything to get overly excited about. It will be a weak system at best. The models show another very weak system also coming through next Sunday February 5th, so we have a couple shots of seeing more snow in the next 7 - 10 days but undoubtedly they are slim pickings..

I'm seeing the pattern continuing to stay mostly unfavorable for us to see any large storms in the 1st half of February. Colder, weaker systems continue to be possible going into the middle of the month.

I'll keep you posted and update you on any changes I'm seeing for our extended outlook.

Till the next one... Mike out.
