Tales of Lost Trail Powder…along with some Impressive Snowfall Numbers from Sunday!

Summary

I did the Powderchaser thing yesterday and headed down to Lost Trail as they reported 6-7” overnight Saturday. They have a nice high base elevation of 7100’ and are located literally on the Continental Divide's west side. When I rolled into the parking lot at 9am there was another 2” and it snowed an additional 4” during the day making for my first epic powder day of the young season! See pics below. Other big winners were Showdown, located in Central Montana’s Little Belt Mountains which received a total of 16”. Big Sky reported 8-12”, Bridger Bowl and Red Lodge both about 10”. West of the Divide, 3-4” at Snowbowl and Discovery with 6” measured at the snow-stake atop Whitefish Mountain resort, which by the way opens this Thursday. I mention all this enthusiastically as we are about to enter the dry zone with a large high-pressure ridge setting up starting Tuesday and lasting until who knows when…maybe even the middle of next week. We’ll need to call in Ullr for another favor…
