[TEST] So much snow coming!

Summary

The best conditions in early January will be along the west coast with multiple days of snow coming to Squaw Valley, Alpine Meadows, and Mammoth Mountain in Californa.

Short Term Forecast

Forecast for January 1-7

The best powder conditions will move from Revelstoke (British Columbia) and Lake Louise (Alberta) to the west coast of the United States.

Expect a storm to arrive in California on January 2 with snow continuing through January 4 with snow totals of 24-36 inches.

As our Tahoe forecast Bryan Allegretto notes, the beginning of the storm will be windy, so there could be lift delays on January 2.

But then a less windy and colder part of the storm will move over the area and the best powder days should be on January 3-4.

The same storm that will hit California from January 2-4 should move toward Utah and Colorado on January 5-6.

On January 5, expect for 6-10 inches in Utah with perhaps a bit more at Alta/Snowbird.

On January 6, Aspen might get in on the action with 3-6 inches and the best skiing first thing on the morning of the 6th.

Extended Forecast

Forecast for January 8-14

The longer-range outlooks are showing a trend toward drier weather in the west while colder air descends over New England.

Sugarbush (Vermont) might be the best bet for powder during this time.

And in the west, while there may not be much powder, most mountains are 80-100% open with base depths of 90-110% of average, so there will be plenty of terrain to enjoy.
