Dream Week

Summary

If there was ever a week to chase deep snow across the Collective Destinations, this is the week. 2-4+ FEET will target Mammoth and Squaw Alpine from Tuesday through Thursday before the action shifts east and Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado join the fun with double-digit totals from Thursday through Friday. Sugarbush could then see deep totals on Saturday, January 19th and into Sunday, January 20th.

Short Term Forecast

Let's get started with the deepest reports from the Collective Resorts over the past 5 days.

Deepest 5-Day Totals

Taos: 12"

Snowmass: 11"

Squaw Alpine: 8"

Aspen Highlands: 7"

Sugarbush: 7"

This Week

It's about to be a powder party for the Collective Destinations as a series of storms target many of the resorts across the West through Friday, January 18th.

The party will start in California where Mammoth and Squaw Alpine will receive upwards of 5 FEET from Tuesday through Thursday night. Strong winds, reduced visibility, and avalanche control will limit the amount of open terrain during this cycle so keep an eye on lift operations for the latest updates.

We'll then turn to the resorts in the Intermountain West as a strong storm targets Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado from Thursday through Friday night.

Alta and Snowbird will be in the sweet spot with 1-2 FEET but Jackson Hole and Aspen Snowmass should also be looking at double-digits by Saturday morning. Snowbird is my pick of the week for deep turns on Friday, followed by the Aspen Snowmass resorts on Saturday morning.

The fun will then shift east as Sugarbush joins the fun over the weekend of January 19th and 20th. There are still a lot of unknowns due to the exact track of the storm but confidence is rising.

Extended Forecast

Next Week

After the party this week, Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado should receive another storm around Tuesday, January 22nd. California will likely not receive additional accumulations through the end of January so it could be the perfect time to enjoy all of the recent snow under beautiful weather.

As always, stay tuned to the 1-10 day forecasts for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.

Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, January 21st.
