DEEP Totals for Squaw & Mammoth
Summary
The week will start with deep totals in California, Utah, and Wyoming. Sugarbush in Vermont will then receive a strong storm on Tuesday and into Wednesday before the action shifts back to the West Coast as we head into the weekend of January 12th and 13th.
Short Term Forecast
Let's get started with the deepest reports for the Collective Resorts from this past weekend and into Monday morning.
Deepest 5-Day Totals
Squaw Alpine: 48 inches
Mammoth: 42"
Revelstoke: 28"
Alta: 25"
Snowbird: 24"
This Week
The Collective destinations listed above have been the place to be during the first week and weekend of 2019. Squaw Alpine and Mammoth are in the flow with upwards of 4 FEET over the past 36 hours, while Revelstoke continues to stack up with 2+ feet over the past 5 days and already 250+ inches for the 2018-19 season.
For Monday and Tuesday, target Alta, Snowbird, and Jackson Hole for the deep. Squaw Alpine and Mammoth will feature deep totals but strong winds and avalanche mitigation will limit the amount of open terrain.
For Wednesday and Thursday, keep an eye on Sugarbush in Vermont for soft turns in the Northeast, along with Revelstoke and SkiBig3 in the Canadian Rockies.
Looking ahead to later this week and weekend, most of the US and Canada will be fairly quiet. It then looks like California will once again be locked in for additional accumulations so keep an eye on Squaw Alpine and Mammoth.
Taos Ski Valley could also join in on the action by late Saturday and into Sunday but total accumulations will be light.
Extended Forecast
Next Week
Same story, different week.
The storm track will remain locked onto the West Coast through the week of January 14th. Keep an eye on Squaw Alpine and Mammoth for the deepest totals, while lighter totals target the Collective destinations in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming, and Colorado.
As always, stay tuned to the forecast for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.
Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, January 14th.
