Quieter Week

Summary

After an active past week, our attention will turn north into Canada through the week of December 16th. The Western US will then jump back into the party beginning around December 23rd. Active weather continues for most areas throughout the holidays.

Short Term Forecast

Let's get started with the deepest reports from the Collective Resorts from Wednesday, December 11th through Sunday, December 15th.

Deepest 5-Day Totals

Snowbird: 37"

Alta: 33"

Alpine Meadows: 25"

Arapahoe Basin: 24"

Jackson Hole: 24"

Forecast

Following the atmospheric river of moisture that delivered 2-3 FEET for many resorts across the Western United States, our full attention will shift north as off-and-on snowfall delivers the goods to Revelstoke and Banff Lake Louise.

The main focus will remain to the west of these areas through Thursday, December 19th ahead of a stronger wave around Friday, December 20th. Expect lighter totals through Thursday and a decent shot at powder skiing through the weekend of December 21st and 22nd.

Outside of quick shot for heavy snowfall at Sugarbush on Tuesday, December 17th and Squaw Alpine around Saturday, December 21st, all other areas will be quiet. Our full attention will shift to the extended forecast...

Extended Forecast

All longer-range models continue to provide the Western US with a stormier pattern beginning around Monday, December 23rd. There's still a lot of details to work out but the following pattern is looking good!

Great news for many destinations and fresh turns as we close out 2019!

As always, stay tuned to the 1-10 day forecasts for all of the Mountain Collective destinations and our team of local forecasters for the latest updates.

Thanks for reading and look for my next update on Monday, December 23rd.
