Good morning, everyone! With snow showers falling throughout the day and night yesterday, many resorts in New England woke up to several inches of new snow this morning. Snow conditions will be wonderful today across the region. I would say a powder day is in store, especially for Vermont resorts. Here are some reported snow totals (past 24 hours):

Jay Peak: 15-17”

Stowe: 5-7”

Smugglers’: 9”

Killington: 16”

Mount Snow: 10”

Bretton Woods: 4-5”

Cannon: 7”

Wildcat: 9”

Temperatures this morning are on the warmer side, with temperatures currently in the upper 20s-lower 30s. However, these warmer temperatures look to be short-lived. A cold front will move through our region sometime during the late morning-early afternoon, bringing temperatures back down into the lower 20s. Winds will also pick up today, with gusts upwards of 30-35 mph possible. Check your local resort’s lift report for possible wind holds / lift closures. Aside from some lingering snow showers in the mountains this morning, skies look to be mostly sunny as we head into the afternoon.

High pressure cements itself over New England overnight tonight. Overnight lows will fall into the teens and single digits across the region. There is a very slight possibility for snow on Tuesday, but it will likely be no more than a dusting. High temperatures for tomorrow will be in the mid-upper 20s. Tomorrow will start off mostly cloudy, but clouds will begin to dissipate in the afternoon. Winds from the SSW will remain fairly light throughout the day (5-10 mph). Overall, Tuesday will be a great day to explore some remaining powder stashes from this weekend’s storm.

A very promising storm in terms of snowfall is headed towards New England on Wednesday. Currently, most models are trending towards snowfall beginning during the afternoon hours. As of now, the storm looks to be capable of producing anywhere from 6-12” of snow. The rain-snow line looks to be right around the coast, which should allow precipitation to fall as snow for the duration of the storm for ski resorts. Snow from this system is expected to move to our east by Thursday morning. Highs for Thursday will be in the upper teens-lower 20s with clouds decreasing throughout the day. Cold temperatures move in overnight on Thursday and into Friday, with lows in the single digits. High pressure returns to the region moving into the weekend.
