The tale of two storms: weaker Tues-Weds, stronger Fri-Sun

Summary

Sunday and Monday will be warm and dry ahead of two storms that are lined up to impact New Mexico between Tuesday, December 24th and Sunday, December 29th. The first storm, the weaker and warmer of the two, will bring 1 to 4 inches Christmas Eve through Christmas Day for low-end powder Wednesday morning favoring the highest elevation west-facing slopes in the northern mountains. The second storm, the stronger and colder of the two, should arrive sometime between late Thursday and Sunday. Much uncertainty remains on the exact timing and track of storm #2, thus we cannot say yet which mountains will be favored for the deepest snow or when. For now, roughly pencil in Friday to Monday for potentially higher-end powder days as storm #2 could bring significant accumulations of 5 to 10+ inches to the mountains favored by its eventual track.
