Snowy week, especially Thursday!

Summary

Two modest weather systems will move through the NW on Tuesday and Wednesday. Then expect a more vigorous storm to cause moderate to heavy snowfall on Thursday. Skiing should be good all week with all the new snow. The weekend will see a little new snow with higher pressure building in, but mainly clearing. This week will see snow levels between 2,500 – 4,000ft most of the week, which is moderate to low, producing generally good quality snow.

Short Term Forecast

Expect new snow on Tuesday and Wednesday with 2-5” (each day) in most ski areas of WA and BC.- Less snowfall will be seen in Oregon. Stevens and the Summit may benefit with more snow, if a convergence zone forms, which models indicate will be the case, Tuesday evening. Snowfall will be heavy on Thursday with a new storm and then the snow tapers on Friday, with snow level dropping to 2,500 ft – Friday has high potential for a fantastic day. (images UW)

Extended Forecast

The models have been consistent in depicting a high-pressure area to block storms and produce a relatively dry weekend. There may be some sunshine from time to time too. Ski conditions on the groomers and off piste should be very good.
