Yesterday was a beautiful day waking up to the mountains covered in snow.  Lots of pictures were being posted by the ski resorts.  Along the West side of the lake several of the resorts reported 3-4 inches up top.  Here is a shot of Kirkwood sent in by a reader yesterday.

The snow levels on Saturday came down close to lake level briefly with the heaviest precip.  The lowest reported elevation I hear that snow dusted the ground was 6600 ft.  It was nice even having the rain falling as the first storm of the season moved in.  This storm actully goes on last year's books for precip totals as the water year ends September 30th.

We have another cold trough that is going to drop in on Wednesday this week.  Today will be the warmest day with higs in the 60's.  Then the winds pick up Tuesday with slightly colder temps ahead of the cold front.  On Wednesday the cold front drops in from the North with lots of cold air and highs possibly stuck in the 30's most of the day.

There is limited precip with this system as it is dropping down over land.  Snow levels are expected to be down close to lake level however, so when precip is falling we should see snow showers at most locations.  We may pick up an inch or two again on the mountains and wake up to some nice scenery again on Thursday.  We'll have to see if any heavier bands of snow setup in certain locations on Wednesday.

A final trough moves into the Pacific NW over the weekend.  This one looks like it will stay well to our North.  We should see warming temps into the weekend with highs approaching 70 by Sunday.  The nice weather looks to last into the foreseeable future.  No early starts to Winter being detected or expected yet.  BA
