South America Daily Snow

Light to Moderate Snow for Much of the Next Week
Summary
Still no major storms in sight for the next week. Instead, we'll see a few slow moving meandering systems that will bring light to moderate snow during this period. These small storms will favor the central region, and in the long range we may have a ridge setting up near the end of the month.
Short Term Forecast
Woh! Two posts in a row without any major action to speak about. It's been hectic the last few months so I can't complain about this less complicated forecast. I hope you all got to take advantage of the cold and stormy weather during this time.
With all the snow this month, a few resorts have extended their seasons. Valle Nevado will stay open through 10/8, Portillo until 10/1, and Cerro Catedral until 10/15.
Below is a shot from Chapelco over the weekend with the recent snow.
Forecast for Wednesday 9/20 - Wednesday 9/27
Not a whole lot to talk about for the next week. A few weak and slow moving storms will keep things cloudy most of the time with snow showers. Snow will be moderate at times in the central zone around Antillanca, Corralco, Pucon, Los Puquios, and Volcan Osorno. The more intense snowfall during this time will likely be from Wednesday night through Thursday this week and Monday night through Tuesday of next week. Still, on the high end I don't expect more than 10 - 15 cms during any twelve hour period, with most coming in < 5 cms.
The best pow days look to be Thursday and the Tuesday at the resorts named above, with lesser amounts everywhere else.
Extended Forecast
Outlook for Thursday 9/28 - Monday 10/2
The models are showing a ridge building toward the end of the month. Beyond that, there are no signals for any major storms at present. Check out the upper level patter below with unfamiliar ridging over central and southern South America.
