Final Days of the Season

Summary

Warm, sunny, and clear days are in store for us this week. With the exception of some increasing winds and some cooler temps this weekend into early next week isn't likely to feature much different weather. Very little to no precip is expected next week with the only chance being around Tuesday. We're wrapping up the season.

Short Term Forecast

This Week

We are definitely nearing the end of the season here in SoCal. Mt. Baldy has already closed for the season with Mtn. High closing this coming weekend. Bear Mtn. and Snow Summit will be open for another week after that along with Snow Valley. They all won't last long with how warm it's going to be this week...

Check out the forecast for Mtn. High through their closing weekend:

That's right... 60's forecasted for the 7,400 FT level with closer to 65 at the base by Friday! Mostly light winds are expected through the weekend with slightly higher winds by Sunday with a cool down this weekend. But as you can see there's no precip in the forecast and we saw that coming last week as we knew this would be a warm and dry week for the region.

Extended Forecast

Next Week

On the whole next week features similar weather to this week but cooler. Temps will likely be in the low to mid 40's which is a far cry from the 60's we're seeing this week. There will likely be some stronger winds on Monday from an approaching system to our North. This system has the chance to deliver a few snow showers but right now amounts look quite low.

Here's the 10 day from the Ensemble Means of the GFS and Euro:

The GFS in Red basically brings nothing, while the Euro in Blue brings enough for an inch or 2 at most given the warmer spring temps. We'll have to see who wins out but the trend has been for the system to stay further North and shift East sooner so that means less moisture for us.

Once that quick cool down passes we warm back up into the 50's going into the final ski weekend for most places in SoCal.

Here's the outlook through then on the European Ensemble:

You can see that amounts are super low down in SoCal for the average so there's a good chance we'll see very little if anything at all before everyone closes.

We've had a decent season with quite a few decent storms and we've done considerably better than some of our friends to the North. Enjoy the beautiful sunny weather because that's what we'll be seeing lots of this last week and a half!

Till the next one... Mike out.
