Update

The storm on Monday and Monday night delivered a few inches more than I expected. The summit snow stake showed about 4 inches of accumulation on Monday, mostly late in the day, then Steamboat received an additional 4 inches on Monday evening. While the southerly wind direction is not a favorable direction for Steamboat (west or west-northwest is best), there was enough storm energy tracking over Steamboat to lift the air and create a healthy band of snow. This is an example how, sometimes, other factors in the atmosphere can overwhelm the bad wind direction, and in this case, we’ll take the ‘extra’ snow. You should find soft turns on Tuesday morning - enjoy!

Looking ahead, we should see at least partly sunny skies on Tuesday and much of Wednesday, then the next storm should bring snow starting on Wednesday night and flakes should fall all day on Thursday with snow tapering off on Thursday evening. Expect 4-8 inches from this system with the softest turns on Thursday afternoon and perhaps Friday first chair.

After that, we’ll see a few more days of dry weather on Friday, Saturday, and at least part of Sunday, and then we could see another storm between about Sunday evening and next Tuesday.

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
