A stormy weekend

Summary

We'll see dry weather on Thursday, then snow will fall on Friday and Saturday, with potential flakes on Sunday and Monday as well.

Update

Wednesday was dry.

Then on Wednesday night, a fast-moving storm tracked north of Colorado and we managed to eke out 2 inches at mid-mountain and 3 inches at the summit. I thought we could see a little more snow than this, but it appears that a lack of moisture limited the snowfall. This amount of new snow should be fun to ride on top of the groomers.

Thursday will be dry, partly to mostly sunny, and a little cooler than past days with a high in the upper teens to low 20s.

Friday and Saturday will be stormy with snow likely on Friday, Friday night, and the first half of Saturday with the potential for snow to slow down or stop by later Saturday afternoon. This storm will bring a lot of moisture which can translate into a lot of snow. The storm will also bring warm temperatures, which should mean rain at the base area and potentially the lower mountain on Friday afternoon and Friday night before cooler air arrives on Saturday. For snowfall amounts, we could see 2-6 inches of snow on Friday with soft snow and maybe a bit of powder by the end of the day, and then with more snow on Friday night and Saturday, I think Saturday morning and midday could be a legitimate powder day with 6-12+ inches of accumulation.

Sunday and Monday could bring additional snow showers. I think areas just south of the mountain could see more significant snow while we may be left with just light accumulations.

Tuesday should be a brief period of dry weather as we will be in between storms.

March 15-17 will be the time when we'll see our next storm. Most forecast models agree that there will be a storm in Colorado during this time, but there is no agreement about the details of this storm. Stay tuned.

March 20-22 could be another storm, but this is still 10+ days away and too far away to think about the details. Again, stay tuned.
