Looking ahead to a storm on Friday
Summary
Wednesday and Thursday will be dry with partly to mostly cloudy skies, then snow should fall between Thursday night and Saturday morning.
Update
Tuesday was sunny and very warm with a high temperature in the 40s and 50s. Spring has sprung!
Wednesday will be another warm day, though a few degrees cooler compared to Tuesday as afternoon clouds will limit warming. Also during the afternoon, we could see a few showers and gusty winds.
Thursday will be a transition day as most of the day will be dry, though we will see more clouds, a cooler high temperature of about 40°F, a few showers, and afternoon gusty winds that could blow dust into Colorado.
Thursday night to Saturday morning will deliver snow. The storm will not be very strong and snowfall amounts could be on the lower end, perhaps just 3-6 inches. The best chance for the steadiest snow should be from Thursday night to Friday morning, which means that there could be a bit of powder on Friday morning or midday. Also, snow showers will continue through Friday night, so there could be another chance for a bit of powder on Saturday morning. While my snow forecast expectations are relatively low, springtime convection could create a little more 'umph' in the stronger storm cells and deliver a few additional inches of accumulation, and we will have to watch for that.
Following the storm, Saturday will trend drier with mostly sunny skies by the afternoon and a high temperature in the 20s to low 30s, then Sunday will be mostly sunny and warmer with a high temperature in the low 40s.
