Update

After many days of tranquil, perfect spring skiing weather, a storm is approaching and Sunday will be the transition day. Expect more clouds and a gusty wind by midday and afternoon with a chance for a snow shower as well.

Then expect a period of heavy snow between Sunday midnight and Monday mid-morning with a quick 3-6 inches of accumulation. This snow will arrive thanks to a cold front moving in from the west. I would make plans to ski on Monday morning to start your week off with some pow. Also, a moist wind from the west should keep snow showers in the air throughout Monday afternoon, and if we’re lucky enough that some of the cells hit Steamboat, we could grab another few inches by Monday evening.

Tuesday will offer soft turns in the morning, and aside from a few clouds and a random snow shower now and again, most of the rest of the week will be dry and partly sunny.

Our next chance for snow will occur during the weekend of March 11-12 as the storm track sags south toward Colorado. I am hopeful that we’ll see snow not only next weekend but the next week as well (March 13-17).
