Update

After a dry night on Sunday, snow began to fall heavily around 5am on Monday morning. The official snow report at mid-mountain shows 2 inches as of 7am, and we should receive another inch or two this morning as the cold front moves through.

The weather on Monday midday and afternoon will likely bring us a bit of everything, from breaks of sunshine to bursts of heavy snow. We will have a cold wind blowing from the west, which is a favorable setup for snow at Steamboat, but we will also be losing moisture, which is a negative. Putting this together, we should be able to grab another inch or two this afternoon, and if a few heavier cells hit Steamboat, amounts could be higher.

On Tuesday and Wednesday, I expect mostly dry weather, but there will be enough moisture lingering over northern Colorado that we may see some periods of snow with light accumulations.

Then from Wednesday through Friday, we should return to dry, sunny, and spring-like weather. After that, the storm track will shift to a position that is just north of Steamboat between March 11-19. I think we will see some snow during this time, but I don’t have much confidence in the timing of each storm, so stay tuned!
