Update

High-level clouds filtered the sunshine on Monday which resulted in some trails not softening as we would expect during the dry and warmer spring weather. The temperature at the base rose to 50F, but the temperature near the summit peaked at only about 30F due to the lack of direct sunshine.

On Tuesday, we’ll continue to deal with mid-and-high level clouds which will filter the sun. If we see a few breaks of direct sunshine, then the snow surface will soften quickly this morning. If not, then we may need to wait until later in the afternoon.

Wednesday should be a fully sunny, bluebird day as the ridge of high pressure will be positioned directly over Colorado.

Then high clouds will likely return on Thursday, Friday, and the weekend, so we’ll have to see if the warmer temperatures can compensate for the high clouds and create softer snow conditions.

Our next chance for snow will occur on March 22-23, and then we should see a storm every few days during the end of March and beginning of April. Late season powder days will be here soon, I promise:-)
