Strong Winds & Upslope Snow...

Summary

- Mostly sunny skies Saturday. Highs in the 40s. Winds increasing with gusts up to 60+ mph possible during the afternoon over the ridges & 40+ mph at lake level. - A cold front moves through from the north Saturday evening with a quick shot of light snow with a dusting of snow possible for most locations. Temperatures drop into the 20s on the mountains Sunday and 30s at lake level. We will see strong northeast winds increasing through the day on Sunday, gusting up to 70+ mph by afternoon over the ridges. That could create upslope snow showers on the east side of the lake on the mountains with a few inches of snow possible. - Expecting mostly sunny skies for Monday-Thursday as high pressure builds back in. Highs rebounding into the 30s on the mountains Monday and 40s at lake level. Then 40s through Thursday. - A weak system could move down from the north next Friday and Sunday. The forecast models are at odds on whether or not they track over the Sierra or to the east. The difference being colder air with light snow or the dry pattern continuing. - Overall a dry pattern could continue through the next 2 weeks with no confidence in any storms of significance right now.
