Merry Christmas!

I'll keep it short today as I am in the middle of assembling lots of toys for the kids (and playing with them too).  The storm yesterday came in on forecast for most locations and over produced a little South and West of the lake at lake level.

We saw 6-12 inches at most lake level locations.  Southwest of the lake reports of up to 20 inches out near Meyers.  The ski resorts all picked up similar amounts with plenty of precipitation spillover across the basin.  They are reporting storm totals of 18-24 inches.  A few inches even made it into downtown Reno where they now have half of their annual average.  Here are the resort totals for the storm and the week.

snowfall totals

As the center of the low moves through Nevada today it is helping to fire up some snow showers around the basin today.  A few more inches fell this morning at the office with some really big flakes coming down.  So we will most likely be adding to the storm totals tomorrow morning for at least some of the mountains.

Most of the ski resorts have surpassed last year's season totals, and they are now at 40% of the annual average already.  We are also now slightly above the end of December average on Donner Summit.  A good thing with the break in the action coming.

It will stay cold and sunny through the weekend.  There is still a chance for some light snow on Monday with a weak system moving through.  Not expecting more than a dusting to a couple of inches for the mountains.

Then it looks like a break for at least a week as high pressure builds in.  We will discuss the upcoming pattern change in more detail this week.

Merry Christmas from the Allegretto family!  Hope some of you get out to enjoy the fresh snow that Santa delivered.
