New snow Wednesday morning and (a lot) more to come

Summary

We have 2-4 inches of new snow on Wednesday morning, and the strengthening storm will bring a lot of snow through the weekend.

Update

Tuesday

Most of Tuesday was dry, then on Tuesday night, the first part of the storm delivered 2-4 inches of snow from a short burst just before sunrise.

Wednesday to Saturday

A complex storm will bring snow at various times over multiple days. While the overall storm setup would not typically favor Telluride, the multi-day duration of the storm should translate to moderate to significant snow totals.

From Wednesday afternoon through Thursday, there should be a lull in the storm with a few inches of snow.

Then from Thursday night to Sunday, snow showers should come in waves and should deliver 10-20 inches of accumulation.

While I have low confidence in the details of the forecast, I estimate that the best powder days will be on Friday, Saturday, and maybe also on Sunday.

Sunday to Wednesday

From Sunday, March 17 to Wednesday, March 20, I expect a mix of dry weather, sunshine, and also times of snow showers as the storm will linger to our southwest through early next week. Daily high temperatures will be in the upper 20s to low 30s.

Longer Range

All of the longer-range forecasts point toward multiple storms returning to Colorado, starting around Thursday, March 21, and continuing through the end of March. It's too soon to figure out the details of the upcoming snowfall, but at least it's good to see that the data is pointing toward more snow before the end of the month.

My next update will be Thursday morning.
