US and Canada Daily Snow

Snow for the northwest and northeast
Summary
Following the significant early-October snowfall, there is now daily lift-serviced skiing in Colorado, and upcoming stormy weather in western Canada and in the northeast should coat those mountains in snow and allow snowmaking to continue.
Short Term Forecast
Let’s start out with a snowy scene in Colorado where the high-elevation areas of Loveland and Arapahoe Basin are now open for daily lift-serviced skiing.
This is the view from the summit of Arapahoe Basin where north-facing slopes are still nicely holding the snow that fell in early October.
Also, Killington mountain in Vermont is now open as well with three trails on the upper part of the mountain.
For the week ahead, from Monday, October 22 through Friday, October 26, we are watching three areas of snowfall.
In western Canada, storms will return following a dry period during the middle of October.
Over Colorado, a slow-moving and warm system will bring high-elevation snow during the early part of the week.
And in the northeast, cool weather will allow snowmaking to crank up with some natural snow as well.
Looking ahead to the weekend of October 27-28, the storm track will skip the middle of the country. Snow will continue over western Canada, and over the northeast, a strong storm might bring significant snow later on Sunday or on Monday (stay tuned).
Extended Forecast
As we look out to the final few days of October and into early November, the longer-range models are hinting that cool weather will stick around the northeastern US and will also begin to push west into the Rockies.
There could be a storm over the northwest and/or Rockies sometime around October 30-31, and the track of that system will help to determine whether stormy weather stays around the Rockies or focuses further east as we head into mid-November.
Thanks for reading and look for the next forecast on Thursday, October 25.
