US and Canada Daily Snow

Coast-to-coast powder this week!
Summary
February 2019 is already a memorable month for many areas. The powder will continue for the west with multiple storms, and northern New England should also get in on the powder party.
Short Term Forecast
The DEEP Continues
While nearly all of the western US has enjoyed a lot of powder during the past two weeks, California topped the charts with up to 80 inches earlier in the month. Also, the last storm which ended on Sunday, February 10th dropped up to 40-50 inches in only 24 hours at Squaw Valley, Homewood, Tahoe Donner, and Heavenly (see the full list here). Incredible!
Like I said in my previous forecast, there’s more where that came from!
Forecast for Monday to Friday (Feb 11-15)
For a snow forecast map, it doesn’t get much better than this. During the upcoming week, we’ll see deep totals from coast-to-coast with multiple feet in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, and Colorado. The deepest snow for these areas will be early in the week over the Northwest and Wednesday/Thursday for California, Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado.
The East will also get in on the action with one storm on Tuesday/Wednesday (some rain toward the mid-Atlantic, mostly snow in New England) and another system heading in on Friday night.
Forecast for The Weekend (Feb 16-17)
While the forecast map for the weekend does not look as deep as this week’s forecast, don’t let it fool you. Even lighter snow amounts on top of a deep and soft base can ski very well.
Over the west, another storm or two should keep the snow going, but there is still a large amount of uncertainty about the timing and strength of these systems. Over the Northeast, a storm will likely bring rain for the first half of Saturday, then cold air will return and we could see powder on Sunday into Monday, especially across northern New England.
Extended Forecast
The Outlook for February 18-22
Incredibly, the same weather pattern that we’ve seen during early February should hang on through the third week of the month. The signal for cold air and snow is strong across the west. The Northeast will continue to see storms, and will likely continue to be on the edge of the rain/snow transition.
Thanks for reading and look for the next forecast on Thursday, February 14.
