Best snow this weekend in Alaska & British Columbia

Summary

The storm track will begin to shift north this weekend with heavy snow expected across Alaska and Coastal British Columbia from Friday through Monday and beyond. In the Lower 48, the pattern will relax across the West while the East turns more active with a good chance of snow across the Central Appalachians on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Short Term Forecast

Heavy Snow for Alaska and British Columbia

A series of powerful storms will (continue to) slam Alaska and Coastal British Columbia over the next 5-10 days. Check out our deep forecast for Alyeska Resort in Alaska, which calls for 48 inches of snow in the next 5 days and 83 inches of snow in the next 10 days.

Forecast for Fri, Nov 27 – Sat, Nov 28

A storm will bring heavy snow to Alaska, Coastal British Columbia, and Central British Columbia on Friday with lighter totals extending into the Washington Cascades. A weak storm will also bring some snow to New Mexico on Friday and Saturday.

Forecast for Sun, Nov 29 – Mon, Nov 30

Alaska and British Columbia will see more heavy snow on Sunday and Monday with lighter snow for Washington and Oregon as the storm weakens south of the border.

Forecast for Tue, Dec 1 – Wed, Dec 2

A storm in the East will bring snow to the Central Appalachians (North Carolina to New York) on Tuesday and Wednesday while New England will be in the warm sector and will see mainly rain. A weak storm could bring some light snow to portions of the Rockies, but out west the storm track will continue to favor the far north with more snow for Alaska and Northwest British Columbia.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Thu, Dec 3 – Mon, Dec 7

The storm track will favor the East during this period with New England likely seeing its best shot of snow during the weekend of the 5th-6th. The West will mainly be dry except for Alaska and Northwest BC who will continue to get pounded.
