California snow midweek, big weekend storm for Colorado
Summary
California is getting a nice midweek storm with snow for both Tahoe and Southern California along with low snow levels. Mid to late week, mountain ranges across the Four Corners region will get in on the action, while the Front Range of Colorado will likely see big snow totals this weekend.
Short Term Forecast
Heavy snow on the way for California, Colorado
The north side of Tahoe saw an appetizer on Monday night with up to 11 inches of snow reported at Squaw Valley on Tuesday morning. The main storm will impact California through Wednesday with a good round of snow from Tahoe to the mountains of Southern California.
This storm will slowly move across the Southern Rockies late in the week with a prolonged period of heavy snow and deep totals expected across the Colorado Front Range this weekend.

Forecast for Wed, Mar 10 – Thu, Mar 11
California will pick up moderate to heavy snow through the end of the day on Wednesday. Snow will then spread inland across the Rockies on Wednesday night and Thursday, favoring the San Juans in Colorado as well as the eastern slopes of the Continental Divide in Wyoming where upslope flow will take over.

Up north, Alaska will be hit with a strong storm on Wednesday and Thursday with Alyeska and Eaglecrest expected to pick up moderate to heavy snow.
Forecast for Fri, Mar 12 – Sun, Mar 14
Light snow will fall across the Four Corners region on Friday, then heavy snow will develop on Saturday and Sunday with strong upslope flow favoring the Front Range in Colorado for the deepest totals. A storm will also impact the Coast Range of British Columbia over the weekend.

In the East, a storm will bring rain on Friday, followed by a cold front with backside snow showers in New England on Saturday and Sunday.
Forecast for Mon, Mar 15
The weekend storm will exit the Front Range on Monday morning. The next storm will bring snow to the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies on Sunday night and Monday with low snow levels expected.
Extended Forecast
Outlook for Tue, Mar 16 – Sat, Mar 20
A storm early next week will move across the Four Corners region, but it won't be as strong as the previous storm. The storm track is projected to become more active across Pacific Northwest by later in this period, while New England should also see better snow chances with a more active pattern expected.
