Midweek storm for Colorado and New Mexico
Summary
An active pattern will continue across the West with more storms expected over the next 7 days. A storm on Wednesday will favor Southern Colorado and Northern New Mexico, followed by a series of storms in the days to follow via a northwest-to-southeast storm track that will favor Canada, the Pacific Northwest, and the Rockies.
Short Term Forecast
Active late season pattern continues across the West
New storms have been impacting the West nearly every day recently with snow totals adding up across most major ski regions from Canada to New Mexico. Check out the scene from Copper Mountain, Colorado this past Sunday.
Forecast for Wed, Mar 24 – Thu, Mar 25
A storm will impact the Southern Rockies on Wednesday with heavy snow for Northern New Mexico and Southern Colorado. A storm will also arrive from the northwest with snow developing across Western Canada and the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday before spreading south into the Rockies on Thursday.
Forecast for Fri, Mar 26 – Sat, Mar 27
The next storm will bring another round of snow to the Rockies on Friday with the San Juans in Colorado likely to be the most favored area. On Saturday, heavy snow will develop across the Coast Range of Southeast Alaska and Northwest British Columbia.
A storm will also impact the Northeast on Friday and Saturday with most areas seeing rain initially before changing to snow across Northern New England on Saturday. The heaviest snow from this storm will fall north of the border in Quebec.
Forecast for Sun, Mar 28 – Mon, Mar 29
A storm will bring another round of snow to the Northwest and the Northern Rockies on Sunday and Monday. The Northeast will see its next storm on Sunday and Monday as well with a combination of rain and snow expected across New England.
Extended Forecast
Outlook for Tue, Mar 30 – Sat, Apr 3
The Rockies should see more snow around March 30th, then the pattern will turn spring-like across the Western U.S. with warmer and drier conditions expected. The main storm track will shift farther north during this time, favoring British Columbia and Alberta. The Northeast could see another storm around April 1st-2nd with rain and snow possible.
