Summary

A series of powerful storms will bring significant snowfall to the Northwest during the upcoming week with ski resorts in BC and Washington favored for the deepest totals. The Northern Rockies and Sierra will pick up some nice totals as well with light snow for the Central Rockies. The East will see a cooler pattern this week with a couple of light snow chances for New England.

Forecast for Mon (Nov 11) to Tue (Nov 12):

The first in this series of storms will bring heavy snow to BC and Washington, with light to moderate snow for the Sierra and Northern/Central Rockies. A cold front will also swing across New England with rain developing ahead of the front, while a changeover to light snow is expected behind the front.

Forecast for Wed (Nov 13) to Thu (Nov 14):

The next storm will focus on the Pacific Northwest with deep totals for the Cascades, BC, and Idaho with the southern fringe reaching as far south as Tahoe. The Central Rockies will see a lull in this pattern as moisture remains to the west and northwest.

Forecast for Fri (Nov 15) to Sat (Nov 16):

There will be two main focus areas. First, a storm will track across the Sierra into the Central/Northern U.S. Rockies with light to moderate snow expected. Second, another storm will reach the Pacific Northwest and Western Canada on Saturday with moderate to heavy snow possible.

In addition, heavy snow looks will return to Alaska while New England could potentially see some light snow showers.

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Sun (Nov 17) to Thu (Nov 21):

A storm is possible over the Central Rockies (including Utah and Colorado) early in this period, though confidence in the storm track is low. An active pattern with frequent storms is likely to continue across the Northwest. The East will see a return to above-average temperatures overall, though some models are hinting at light snow potential for the higher elevations.
