More Storms Lined Up for the Northwest

Summary

The Northwest has received deep snow totals over the past week, and the storm track will reload this week with more storms on the way. Snow levels will start low early this week but will trend higher late in the week with snow changing to rain in some areas. The Northern Rockies will pick up lighter snow in this pattern, while the East will turn active late this week with snow in the Appalachians.

5-Day Snow Forecast:

Here we go again! The Northwest is about to get slammed again this week with heavy snow and strong winds. Some areas will see a changeover to rain late in the week, but this will be another good base-building pattern for ski resorts.

Significant moisture could also reach the Tahoe area mid-week (close call on the southern fringe of the storm track), but rain is likely at ski resorts in this area with snow confined to elevations above ski resort summits.

Ski resorts that will be favored for significant snowfall over the next 5 days include...

Forecast for Mon (Nov 18) to Tue (Nov 19):

The first storm will bring heavy snow to the Cascades and BC Coast Range with low snow levels. Light to moderate snow will fall across the Northern Rockies, with one exception being the Tetons in Wyoming which will receive locally heavy snow.

Forecast for Wed (Nov 20) to Thu (Nov 21):

Another storm will bring snow to the Northwest, but warmer air will also arrive with rising snow levels and a changeover to rain at some resorts.

A storm will also move into the East along with a strong cold front with precipitation starting as rain before changing over to snow at ski resorts across the Mid-Atlantic. Southern New York and Pennsylvania are favored for higher totals, while New England looks to be in the warmer sector through Thursday with snow remaining confined to the higher elevations.

Forecast for Fri (Nov 22) to Sat (Nov 23):

A storm will continue to impact the Northwest with snow levels peaking on Friday before falling on Saturday as a cold front moves across the area. Tahoe ski resorts also have a better chance of picking up snow once the cold front moves through.

Another storm will move into the Appalachians from the northwest, bringing terrain-driven snow showers to the Mid-Atlantic, favoring the higher terrain of West Virginia. Temperatures will also drop across New England with a good chance of snow showers along with lower snow levels

Extended Forecast

Outlook for Sun (Nov 24) to Thu (Nov 28):

Thanksgiving Week is looking active throughout North America with multiple storms likely to impact the West. The Central Rockies (Utah and Colorado) also have a better chance of seeing some meaningful snow compared to the past 1-2 weeks.

The East will see a gradual warming trend but an active pattern looks to continue with snow chances favoring the Great Lakes and New England.

Thanks so much for reading! Next update on Wednesday (November 20).
