Pretty Much Done

Summary

Orographic snow showers continue in areas favored in NW flow. Otherwise, we are clearing out today (Saturday) and will have a bit of a break in the action for the upcoming week.

Short Term Forecast

Snow showers continue this morning in areas favored by NW flow, particularly the Cottonwoods. Over the past 24 hours.... Another 17-18" for LCC.  14-18" in BCC.  15" down in Brian Head.  13" at Park City.  Powder Mountain is reporting another 16", although their webcam doesn't really show it.  But regardless, should be an epic opening day up there!

In total, this storm has dumped a remarkable 2.5 to 5 FEET of snow on most Utah resorts since Tuesday night.  Just what we needed to jump start the season!

We will clear out by this afternoon with a break in the action.  A Pacific trough will bring rain and snow to the Sierra early this week but it looks like most of that moisture will be pushed north of us.  Northern Utah could still see plenty of clouds and some showers, but I don't think any appreciable accumulation will occur.  It looks like this upcoming week will mostly be a break in the action.

Extended Forecast

Our next shot at a better storm could be next weekend, although models are struggling to agree on that.  What models do agree on is a large trough eventually developing by the middle of December.  This looks like it could be a good, cold, snowy pattern for the west.
