Showers (and wind) continue

Summary

Mountain snow showers continue in Northern Utah through the end of the week. We could see decent accumulation and potential for powder days. Drier and warmer late this weekend into next week.

Short Term Forecast

Our storm continues to impact Utah. I'm down in southern Utah having a spring trip in the desert, but trying to keep one eye on Northern Utah while I'm down here. The big headlines so far are the downsloping winds along the Wasatch Front. Typical areas that are impacted in downslope events are getting hammered still (Wednesday morning). Gusts over 80mph are being reported in a favored areas such as the mouth of Weber Canyon.

In the mountains, we've seen snow showers falling from time to time. Accumulations so far have generally been 1-3" but we should see snow continue today (Wednesday) and we could be looking at 4-8" in places by the end of the day today. Could be a good "last chair, best chair" day to day and I expect crowds to be limited.

While the best snowfall will likely be today (Wednesday, snow showers will continue from time into Thursday and Friday and possibly Saturday. As I said earlier this week, keeping an eye on radar and webcams and being ready to take advantage of heavy snow is critical to scoring the goods in this type of pattern.

Extended Forecast

We should finally dry out and warm back up later in the weekend into early next week.
