Thursday was a sunny day with a high temperature of about 35F on the hill. Then we saw a few clouds and very light snow showers early on Thursday night, but those clouds have passed and Friday morning is once again dawning with a clear sky.

The weather on Friday and Saturday will be mostly sunny with the warmest temperatures of the week, topping out between about 35-40F on the hill.

Then a strong and slow-moving storm over the west coast will finally arrive in Colorado on Sunday.

Expect gusty winds on Saturday night and Sunday morning ahead of the storm, and then a cold front should hit Winter Park around midday or early afternoon on Sunday, and this front will bring a few hours of intense snowfall and a few inches of accumulation.

Later on Sunday afternoon and evening, snow showers will continue with an additional few inches of snow. However, by later Sunday evening, the temperature will likely drop into the single digits on the hill, and this is generally too cold for the atmosphere to produce big snowflakes, thus snow accumulations should be on the light side later on Sunday night into Monday morning.

I still think that the 3-7 inch range is reasonable for this storm, and because the system might be slowing down just a touch, you'll likely find the softest snow during the last few runs on Sunday afternoon and more likely the first few runs on Monday morning.

Next week, expect snow showers and cold temperatures on Monday, then we'll see mostly sunny skies and warmer readings from Tuesday through Friday. Our next storm could arrive sometime next weekend, around March 10-11.
