Update

Surprise!

If you get out on the hill early on Sunday morning, you’ll find 2 inches of new snow, and you’ll get it before the sun turns the powder into a thicker glop.

Earlier forecasts showed the chance for a few snow showers on Saturday night, though the models didn’t pick up that the system would be stronger than expected until later on Saturday evening.

This new snow means that we are continuing the streak of getting more snow than forecast during these end-of-season storms, which I guess it’s the atmosphere's way of trying to make amends for the very slow start to the snowfall this year!

Sunday morning’s snow showers and clouds should move away by mid-morning, leaving partly sunny skies for the rest of Sunday with temperatures rising into the mid-to-upper 30s.

Following dry weather on Monday, the next storm will bring 3-6 inches of snow from Tuesday midday through Wednesday morning, so you'll find softer conditions on the groomers on Tuesday afternoon, and by Wednesday morning, you might find legitimate powder (6+ inches). Keep your eye on Wednesday morning for sure.

The second storm of the week should bring snow from Thursday night through Saturday morning (April 19-21), with low-end powder amounts possible on Friday and Saturday morning. If the storm slows down a little, perhaps we'll even get more than 6 inches. This second storm will be perfectly timed to give you the last shot at powder before Winter Park closes on Sunday, April 22nd (Mary Jane will be open through Sunday, May 6th!).

Thanks for reading and stay tuned for an update each morning!
