Mary Jane Opening Thanksgiving Day

Mary Jane will open for the 2018-19 season tomorrow (11/22) with 126 acres of additional terrain. Mary Jane Trail and Arrowhead Loop will be accessed from the Super Gauge Express, Iron Horse, and Pony Express lifts.

Forecast

Sunny skies and mild temps will continue through Wednesday as we anxiously await two storms through the holiday weekend.

Clouds will begin to increase from the southwest through Wednesday night and into Thursday morning but we should stay mostly dry through midday Thursday.

The cold front from storm #1 will then arrive on Thursday evening and deliver us a quick round of moderate to heavy snow through Thursday night. Overall, this storm starts too warm and is moving too quickly to produce higher totals but look for 1-4 inches on the mountain by Friday morning.

Snow showers will likely linger through Friday ahead of storm #2 from Friday night through Sunday morning. There aren't many changes compared to the previous day's forecasts as we are locked in for a healthy snow event. Periods of light snow will fall through Friday night ahead of a strong cold front and very heavy snow on Saturday. In total, we are looking at 5-10 inches from Friday night through Sunday morning.

For skiing, Thanksgiving day will offer mild temps and partly to mostly cloudy skies ahead of storm #1. Friday morning should offer good turns thanks to the refresh on Thursday night but it will be right on the edge for legit powder turns. Saturday will be a storm skiing day and we'll have to watch for reduced visibility and lift closures due to very strong winds as the storm roars overhead. Sunday morning will be cold but this would be my choice for the best skiing of the weekend.

Periods of light snow will likely linger into Sunday morning before dry conditions prevail into early next week. We should then see active weather continue into the final days of November and early December.
