Update

Friday

We’ll see dry and partly-to-mostly cloudy weather to end the week. Snow showers should begin during the afternoon and evening with just light accumulations.

Storm Friday night through Saturday

Expect light snow to fall on Friday night, so there will be some fresh powder to start the day on Saturday. Then additional snow will fall through Saturday afternoon, so conditions will get softer and deeper through the day. This system is bringing a wind from the west, which can be a reasonably good direction for Winter Park as long as there is sufficient moisture and storm energy (vorticity), which we should have. My forecast is for 3-6 inches of snow from Friday night through Saturday. Enjoy Saturday’s powder day!

Break on Sunday

Sunday morning will start with some sunshine and dry weather. You’ll likely find powder stashes in the morning though most of the snow will be tracked from Saturday's skiers and riders. By the afternoon, clouds should thicken and snow showers should return.

Snow Sunday night through Monday

It’s likely that we’ll see an additional 2-5 inches from Sunday evening through Monday night or Tuesday morning, but I have low confidence in the details of this system. For now, plan for more soft snow during the day on Monday.

Tuesday to Thursday

A storm will take a track far to the south and this should lead to drier weather on Tuesday and Wednesday. As the storm moves to eastern Colorado on Wednesday night, we could see a more favorable wind direction from the east and eventually northwest, with more snow from Wednesday evening through Thursday. Right now it appears that our best chance for a powder day, if it happens, will be on Thursday.

Thanks for reading and check back each morning for daily updates!
